Two men charged with theft after skid loader disappears
On Wednesday morning, the Ottumwa Police Department received a report that a skid loader had been stolen from the Market Street Bridge construction site. The loader was located a short time later at an apartment building on Lincoln Street in Ottumwa.
During an investigation, it was determined that after the skid loader was stolen it was used in a burglary at a business on North Davis Street. The suspects used the skid loader to transport several car transmissions to an address located on North Marion Street in Ottumwa. The transmissions were seized and returned to the owner.
As a result of the investigation, Todd Michael Sexton, 36, and Kyle Austin Davis, 25, both of Ottumwa, were arrested and charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony, Theft 1st Degree, a Class C Felony, and Conspiracy, a Class D Felony.
Both Sexton and Davis are being held in the Wapello County Jail. Todd Sexton is being held on a $15, 000 bond and Kyle Davis is being held on a $10,000.
