Two trucks collide, One left dead
A northeast Missouri woman is dead as the result of an early Tuesday morning crash involving two pickup trucks.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened at 6 a.m. five miles north of Plevna on Highway 15.
The victim was Jody Lyda, 35, of Macon.
Lyda was a passenger in a pickup driven by Lucas Smith, 32, of Shelbyville.
Investigators said Smith's pickup collided head-on with a pickup driven by Marvin Horst, 44, of Novelty.
Lyda was pronounced dead at the scene by Knox County Coroner Jeff Doss.
Horst received minor injuries and was taken by private auto to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville for treatment.
Smith suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia.
The patrol said no one involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt.
We are told a crew from the highway patrol spent much of the day trying to reconstruct the crash.
