United Way is asking for your help

A Northeast Missouri organization is starting up its yearly campaign once again.

The United Way of Adair County/Northeast Missouri had a kickoff luncheon Thursday at Truman State University.

About 150 people turned out to help wish the organization well on its 2012 campaign.

The United Way assists the community and helps out various agencies which provide a variety of services for all ages.

We're raising funds for 13 different agencies and about twenty programs that they support and provide to the community. Said John Dungan Executive Director of The United Way of Adair County/Northeast Missouri. Those programs range from services to children of youth to services for the elderly. So from cradle to grave, United Way provides services.

State Representative Zach Wyatt is this year TMs campaign chair and has hopes that this year will be the best one yet. One of the main things I plan on doing is visiting all the agencies and getting to know more of the workings within those agencies. Wyatt said. Also, I TMll be talking more with people to get them involved with United Way. I know this is going to be a great campaign. I really think that we're all going to come together this year and hopefully make our goal.

The campaign runs now through December 10th. The United Way hopes that the community will step up this year and help reach this year TMs goal.

Our goal is $275,000, which is the same goal that we've had the last few years. Dungan said. We've been through some tough economic times, so we haven't reached that goal for a while. We hope that the community will be able to this year step up and get close to the $275,000 goal which will address the share and needs of our various agencies.
