United Way looking for volunteers for its annual Day of Caring
The second Wednesday of September marks United Way of Wapello County's Annual Day of Caring.
On Sept. 11, volunteers in the community will be heading out to several different work sites to help make a difference.
Marie Zoromski, the Community Impact Associate at United Way, says there are many opportunities in which people can get involved. A few of these include helping the Ottumwa Fire Department canvass neighborhoods, expanding the Community Garden Project and helping with weatherization programs.
â??It's really important for us because it helps us connect our donors with the projects and the things that they're donating towards and they do get to go in and see the agencies, meet some of the clients and actually be active right in the organization,â?? Zoromski said. â??It's a great day. It helps a lot of people in our community it makes a big impact in Ottumwa.â??
If you'd like to get your business involved or you'd like to volunteer individually, Zoromski says to contact United Way at 641-682-1264 or sign up online before Sept. 5.
