The United Way of Wapello County is seeking volunteers for its annual tax prepping program.
The non-profit organization's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program offers free tax services to families or individuals who work in the state of Iowa and make less than $50,000 per year.
â??This year we have hired a manager to manage and coordinate the project, so we really put a lot more time and emphasis on the project,â?? Marie Zoromski, community impact associate said. â??We think it's important that people here in Wapello County do get their taxes processed and take advantage of their credits that they do deserve.â??
There are multiple ways you can volunteer to assist people seeking this service. You can become a fully-certified volunteer by going through the IRS's tax program. Intake-process volunteers require a lower level of certification, and the United Way also is in need of greeters for this program.
