University students are helping those affected by violence
Students at A.T. Still University are spending the week raising awareness and helping prevent violence against women by hosting an annual drive.
Members of the National Osteopathic Women Physicians Association, or NOWPA, are collecting items to send to women that are in need or have been victims of violence. Items that can be donated in the drive include garbage bags, toilet paper, deodorant and non-perishable food items.
Other than donating items, the public can also get involved by hearing from a guest speaker from a victim support center on November 14 or by attending a self-defense class on the the 16, all of which are held at the university.
The president of the NOWPA at the university stresses that violence against women is an issue that needs awareness, and needs discussion.
Items for the drive can be donated from now until Thursday at the Still Station on the main campus.
