Van Buren High School seniors had one last hoorah Thursday morning before graduation day on Sunday.
It was all about recognizing the 36 graduating seniors at the high schoolâ??s Senior Awards Ceremony.
More than 73,000 in scholarships were awarded to several students and many more awards were handed out recognizing individual achievements of seniors in various clubs and organizations.
It proved to be a very exciting day for both students and staff.
â??It's always bittersweet. Obviously the teachers and staff and the students and myself, we have good connections with the kids and that's what kind of makes our building what it is. So we're excited to see them go and get started on new things but at the same time we're a little sad to see them go. So every year it's an emotional time. There will be lots of tears at graduation Iâ??m sure from students staff and from parents. So it'll be a good day for them,â?? said Chuck Banks, Van Buren High School Principal.
Banks said more than 70% of the graduating class will be going on to higher education.
