The United Way of Adair County and Northeast Missouri are looking for volunteers to help out for their annual United Way Day of Caring event.
This year, the Day of Caring will be taking place this friday in conjunction with the program Project Homeless Connect at the Crossing Church in Kirksville.
The program sponsors a one-day event to reach as many homeless people in the community as possible and help them give access to services such as medical, dental, and vision screenings, applying for a state ID and housing.
"We really want to support Project Homeless connect and we want to get the community out behind this effort to help people take the next step and stand on their own two feet and be productive and giving back to the community so we are excited about the opportunity and be a part of that and we want to encourage the community to be a part of that too," said John Dungan of the United Way of Adair County and Northeast Missouri.
About 200 hundred people are expected at Friday's event.
