Tucked right off Briggs Street in Macon is the Macon Senior Center. The center host many activities and events for seniors in the community and also serves lunch between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Not only do they serve lunch, but they also deliver to those who can't come to the center.
Administrator Christina Viers said the non profit could really use more volunteers during the summer. â??We need volunteers to go out and deliver the meals on Monday through Friday,â?? Viers said. â??It's about an hour and a half to two hours max of your time and it just really makes a difference in peoples lives. We're also looking for volunteers who will work in the kitchen and would help make rolls in the morning, fill the sacks and the coolers for the drivers to take out.â??
To help raise funds the center is selling cinnamon rolls on August 1 for 50 cents a piece or $5 a dozen. The Macon Senior Center is located on 1604 Maffry St.
