Activities at the Wapello County 4-H Expo were all about the kids Thursday.
Kids could participate in crafts, story time and train rides, as well as have an opportunity to get up close and personal with animals.
"We are doing passport books this morning, so when the kids went and visited the animals or the corn box or something, they would get stickers or stamps to put in their booklet as they day of activities they had at the expo," said Rose Brown, from the Iowa State Extension Office.
Some of the events also focused on health and wellness.
"I am making healthy snacks for the kids this morning," said Sydney Kenning, also of the Iowa State Extension Office. "It's kind of an extension of what I do for the Iowa State extension office because I go into elementary schools - actually, we both do - and we make snacks that involve either healthy fruits or vegetables and so we're kind of promoting that aspect of our program as well, making blueberry parfaits with kids today."
Having the younger kids see what goes into being a part of 4-H gets them thinking about getting involved at a young age.
