The Wapello County Democratic Party is making preparations for their upcoming caucus.
The caucus for the Democratic Party of Wapello County will take place January 21st at 7 p.m. in the Ottumwa High School cafeteria.
All Wapello County precincts will meet there for the beginning of organizations for the upcoming year.
Wapello County Democrats Chair, Melinda Jones, said although it's a non-presidential election year, there is still a lot to be accomplished in 2014 and it all begins with the caucus.
"This is a great way to get involved with the Iowa Democratic Party platform and our agenda, and it's a great way to start organizing for the 2014 campaigns," said Jones.
At the caucus, the Democrats will begin work on their party platform.
They will also be electing members to central committees and to go to the party's convention.
The goal of the Wapello County Democrats is to work to promote Democratic principles across Wapello County and elect qualified Democratic candidates.
