Weekend house fire displaces family of four

What's left a Green City home after a fire displaced a family of four.

A Green City family is displaced after an overnight fire.

Fire crews first got the call of a structure fire around 11:30 Saturday night, and once they arrived the flames were shooting through the home.

Officials tell us there were at least four people who lived in the home and were actually at the NEMO Fair in Kirksville when their home caught fire.

We're told there were two dogs, but fire officials were able to get them to safety.

The fire marshall was called out Sunday, but they could not determine the direct cause of the blaze.

Unfortunately the family lost their home and all their belongings inside. Theyâ??re in need of clothing and other basic essentials.

The Green City Community Betterment is asking that you help this young family. A two year old wears a size 2T-3T in boys and the one year old wears an 18-24 month girls. The mother, Denise Lopez, 23, of Green City wears a size 18 in jeans and an XL or XXL in tops. The father Angel Sanchez also of Green City wears a 29/30 in pants and medium in shirts.

The generosity of the owners of the Green City Motel and Party Mart has allowed the family to have roof over their heads for the next couple nights there, but they are in need of a permanent place.

If you wish to help call the Green City Community Betterment secretary and Treasurer, Kathie Clay at 660-874-4294 or any member of the Community Betterment.
