Windy conditions fan flames of NEMO house fire
ATLANTA, Mo. —
Windy conditions made it difficult for local firefighters to battle a Monday afternoon house fire.
Crews responded just before noon to a home located at the intersection of Aaron and Williamson streets in Atlanta, Missouri.
When KTVO arrived on scene, the home was completely engulfed in flames and smoke.
Those that lived in the home were not injured in the blaze and were able to escape safely.
However, due to wind gusts, the fire was hard to contain.
Flames and smoke were blowing in the direction of a neighboring home.
As a result, crews kept a close watch on that property to make sure the fire did not spread.
At this time, the cause of the fire has not been determined.
The American Red Cross was also on scene to assist the family that lived in the home.
Crews from Atlanta, La Plata and Macon County battled the blaze.
