Woman allegedly assaults a man with tire iron

Tabitha Sanders, 29, allegedly hit her partner several times with a tire iron and began chasing him around the yard.
A Kirksville woman is behind bars after she was arrested by Kirksville Police for allegedly assaulting her uncle with a tire iron.

According to documents, Tabitha Sanders, 29, allegedly hit the victim several times and began chasing him around the yard. We're told the victim was unloading furniture Friday night, when Sanders arrived and came at him with the tire iron.

When Sanders began chasing him, he grabbed a garden hoe as an attempt to keep her back, the man fell and Sanders threw the tire iron and left.

Officers later made contact with Sanders at her residence and she says she was upset about welfare, and simply waved the tire iron in the air to make him think she was going to hit him with it.

Sanders told officers she only hit the victim after he struck her with the garden hoe.

Sanders faces 2nd degree domestic assault and is in the Adair County Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond.
