Woman in critical condition after being hit in yard by erratic driver
BUCKLIN, Mo. —
A northeast Missouri woman is in critical condition after she was hit by a car while in a yard overnight Tuesday.
Authorities say a vehicle driven by Jose “Joey” R. Montoya, 18, of Bucklin, Mo., struck Amanda Hepworth, 27, of New Cambria, just after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. The highway patrol crash report indicates that Montoya was driving erratically and hit the woman in the backyard of a home in the 200 block of Baker Street in Bucklin.
Hepworth was listed in critical condition early Wednesday afternoon after being flown to University Hospital in Columbia.
Montoya is now charged with Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, Second-Degree Assault, Armed Criminal Action and DWI Causing Serious Physical Injury.
His arraignment is set for Thursday morning in Linn County court.
