Woman receives additional charges while being booked

A southeast Iowa woman is facing additional charges after she was uncooperative while being booked into jail.

On Wednesday afternoon, Shareedah Rene Hogan, 25, of Burlington, was being processed in to the Des Moines County Correctional Center on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Trespass.

Investigators said Hogan became uncooperative and argumentative with correctional officers and refused to be seated after several requests to do so.

They say she became aggressive, swinging at the officers multiple times.

The sheriff's office said Hogan continued punching and scratching at officers. One officer was struck in the face and received scratches under both eyes during the incident.

In addition to her Possession and Criminal Trespass charges, Hogan was is now also charged with Assault on a Correctional Officer Causing Bodily Injury, an aggravated misdemeanor.
