Woman sentenced in Kirksville child molestation case
A northeast Missouri woman is headed to the Missouri Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to a reduced charge in a child molestation case.
Online court records indicate that Kelly Ames, 22, of Kirksville was sentenced this week to seven years in prison after pleading guilty in May to a charge of possession of child pornography.
Ames had been charged with two counts of first-degree child molestation in connection with incidents involving a four-year-old victim.
The judge also ordered Ames into the Sex Offender Assessment Unit.
If she successfully completes that 120-day program, she could be released on probation.
Amesâ?? boyfriend, Christopher Hunter of Kirksville, is set to go on trial in September on charges related to the same case.
