A Kirksville street improvement project that's forced residents to detour for several months is in its final stages, which will be a relief to the students and residents around the Truman State Campus.
Crews started working on the section of Franklin Street between Normal and Patterson in Mid-June.
Officials expected completion by August, but they've had several setbacks.
Crews are milling and paving the street this week and project engineer Craig Dawson says paving should finish up by Friday.
After that final touches include landscaping, pavement marking, and installation of a fence and irrigation systems.
The street runs along the west side of the Truman State University's campus and has been a headache for many students and residents.
Dawson says weather may be an issue while crews mark the pavement, but the project should be on track for completion by October 17th.
