YMCA provides incentive to stay fit and healthy over the holidays
A local YMCA is providing an incentive to stay fit and healthy over the holidays.
The Adair County Family YMCA in Kirksville is holding a 'Holiday Waist Watchers' program. The program allows people to weigh-in before the holidays, and then have a second weigh-in after the holidays. If you maintain the same weight, you will be entered to win a $50 Wal-Mart gift card. If you happen to lose weight over the holidays, you will be entered in for a second time.
The Y's wellness director says it's always good to get a jump start and begin working out during the holidays rather than waiting until the New Year rolls around.
"I know the first of the year is when everybody sets the goals of I'll do it then, I'll lose weight then, but if you can maintain and start throughout the holidays, then that kind of gives you a little extra jump," said Diane Corder, the YMCA Membership and Wellness Director.
To participate in the 'Waist Watcher' program, you must sign up before 10:00 p.m. Wednesday at the YMCA. The cost is $5 per person.
