You can add life changes to your insurance plan

Just because open enrollment is over doesn't mean you can't make changes to your health insurance plan.

Millions of Americans have now enrolled for the new Health Insurance Marketplace.

About seven million applied for heath insurance between October and March, and The Northeast Missouri Council told us word of mouth helped get many people enrolled.

Just because open enrollment is over doesn't mean you can't make changes. You can still enroll if a life-changing event occurs within the next year.

"Just as soon as it happens. So you can't really do it before. But as soon as it happens, you want to come in and say yes I just got married or yes I just had a baby let's get health insurance," said Jocelyn Eppich of the Northeast Missouri Health Council.

You can also enroll for health insurance if you lose coverage that was offered through your employer. You can apply for that 60 days before it takes effect.

The next open enrollment for 2015 begins on November 15th.
