Crane falls off truck on interstate south of Seattle, huge backup forms
TUKWILA, Wash. (KOMO) - A crane has fallen off a truck Wednesday morning on Interstate 5 south of Seattle, creating a large backup.
Motorists are being warned to avoid the area.
The toppled crane is blocking two lanes of northbound I-5 in the area, just north of the I-405 interchange. Traffic is backing up quickly.
No injures have been reported, but state troopers say about 100 gallons of hydraulic fluid has spilled at the scene.
Trooper Rick Johnson of the Washington State Patrol says the recovery and cleanup from the crash will take a long time due to the size of the crane. Long backups could continue at the scene for an extended period.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
