Missouri Basketball announced that St. Louis native and 2012 Mr. Show-Me Basketball, Cameron Biedscheid, will join the program after transferring from Notre Dame University.
A 6-foot-7 wing from Cardinal Ritter College Prep, Biedscheid will be eligible to play for the Tigers after the completion of the 2014 fall semester and will be classified as a redshirt sophomore next season.
One of the top prospects in the class of 2012, Biedscheid ranked No. 28 nationally by Rivals.com and was a four-star recruit by virtually every scouting service.
A 2012 Parade Magazine All-American, Biedscheid averaged 31.7 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.2 steals as a senior en route to being named the 2012 Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year.
"I'm really excited about the addition of Cam," Mizzou Head Coach Frank Haith said. "He is a talented young man from a great family and his addition gets us back into St. Louis where they play fantastic basketball at the high school and AAU levels.
His skill set fits our program well and we are looking forward to having him join our program at the start of the spring semester."
Biedscheid was an all-state performer his junior season as well, averaging 29.7 points and 7.9 rebounds.
He helped Cardinal Ritter to the 2010 Missouri Class 3A state championship, the sixth in program history.
That championship game was played at Mizzou Arena and he averaged impressive numbers of 18.1 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.4 steals that sophomore campaign.
Biedscheid finished his high school career by scoring more than 2,000 career points.
Biedscheid played in 34 games as a freshman at Notre Dame and averaged 6.2 points and 1.4 rebounds for the Fighting Irish. He shot a team-leading 81.8 percent from the free throw line and led the club in scoring three times.
His top scoring game came in a win against Villanova where he scored 18 points and made a season high five three-pointers.
That performance helped him win BIG EAST Rookie of the Week honors and was one of six double-figure scoring games.
