KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Truman State University men's soccer team trailed Illinois Springfield 2-0 with just under five minutes to go until the final buzzer in the first home GLVC match of the year. The Bulldogs cut the deficit to one, 2-1, with a goal in the 86th minute, but that's where the score would stand when it was all said and done.

Truman fell to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in GLVC play while Illinois Springfield improved to 2-2 on the season, including 2-0 in league action. The Prairie Stars' two scores came from Mario Falsone in the 27th and 81st minutes. That 86th-minute goal for the good guys was put in by Trevor Kaufmann, his second for the year and ninth for his career. The junior forward was assisted by Matt Yankowitz, Yankowitz's first-career helper.

In goal, Truman's Zac Suazo accounted for two saves while Illinois Springfield's Tommy Geile stopped four looks. In the team head-to-head, The Bulldogs held the upper hand in shots (15-8), shots on goal (5-4) and corner kicks (7-2).

Next up, Truman's three-game homestand will continue as it hosts William Jewell on Friday with the start time set for 1 p.m. at Bulldog Soccer Park.
