The 2013 Bulldog Football season will kickoff on Wednesday, July 31 at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Football Media Day. Head Coach Gregg Nesbitt and sophomore Devin Gillespie will represent Truman at the event that will not only feature traditional interviews with area and regional media but interactive and social media for fans and alumni.
The event will run from 11:30-1:00 at the Millennium Student Center on the campus of the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
The "Voice of the Bulldogs" KRES 104.7 FM will run interviews from media day on "The Home Team" show at 11:15 a.m. on Monday, August 5th. That show can be heard online at centralmoinfo.com.
Each head coach and student-athlete of the eight GLVC teams will rotate through a number of 10-minute stations designed to promote conference football on various platforms, including a live stream video press conference, an interactive Cover It Live interview with media and fans, engaging video interviews that will be uploaded to the GLVC's official YouTube page, an Instagram photo shoot, as well as responses to submitted questions from fans who join the GLVC Football Kickoff 2013 event page on Facebook (GLVC Football Kickoff 2013 Facebook Event Page).
Throughout the week and during the event, the conference will be using the Twitter to promote the 2013 season on its official Twitter account (@GLVCsports).
The GLVC will be using the hashtag #GLVCkickoff and encourages its schools and fans to do the same.
In addition, the league will release the 2013 GLVC Preseason Poll on Twitter over the course of the first hour of the event.
New to this year's schedule will be "Twenty on Twitter," which concludes the online event with all eight coaches and eight players tweeting live on both their personal and school's official athletics Twitter accounts from 12:50-1:10 p.m. CT.
Over those final 20 minutes, the conference participants will be encouraged to share their thoughts on the event, tweet photos from the day, or answer any final questions from fans using the hashtag #GLVCkickoff on select accounts,
including @UIndyAthletics, @rbartolomeo, @KWCPanthers, @McKBearcats, @minersports, @SandTFootball, @QUHawks, @SJC_Athletics, @SJCPumaFootball, @TrumanAthletics, and @WJCSportsNet.
During the rest of the event, each coach and student-athlete will take part in several interview sessions. When they reach the live video stream station, the team representatives will spend 10 minutes previewing the upcoming season while coverage of the press conference will be streamed live through the GLVC Football Kickoff website for all fans to watch free of charge.
Teams will also take part in a Cover It Live chat, which is embedded on the event website.
While at this station, each coach and player will interact in real-time with the league's media members and fans, who are encouraged to submit questions and well wishes for their favorite team.
Fans will also have a chance to get to know the conference coaches and players on a personal level as GLVCsports.com will go "4 Downs" with each team in a video clip that will uploaded to the league's YouTube page (TheGLVC).
