IHCC baseball season ends in Northern District tournament


MT. CARMEL, Il - The No. 19 Indian Hills baseball team entered today needing two wins against No. 17 Wabash Valley to make it to the JUCO World Series. The Falcons could only get one.

In game one, Wabash Valley led 1-0 when Christian Pena hit a RBI single to score Lane Harvey and Will Zimmerman for a 2-1 lead.

In the top of the 4th, Ryan Humeniuk hit a sacrifice fly to score Colin Potrzeba and five the Falcons a 3-1 lead.

In the next inning, Will Zimmeran hit a single to score Lane Harvey and extend the iHCC lead to three. Pena delivered again with a RBI triple and Indian Hills lead Wabash Valley 5-1 after five innings.

In the 7th, Zimmerman scored again thanks to some errors. Wabash Valley cut into the lead in the eighth scoring two runs, but the Falcons got out of that inning and closed the game in the ninth for a 6-3 win.

Game two was a pitchers duel. The game was scoreless entering the bottom of the ninth. With two on and no outs, Trey Beckman bunts for a safety squeeze and Diego Pichardo scored to end IHCC's season, 1-0.

After winning its first region tournament since 2004, Indian Hills ends the season at 41-20.
