Dataw Island, South Carolina -- Freshman Ricky Sanders was the meet medalist, leading a pack of three Indian Hills golfers at the top of the leaderboard, as the Warriors opened the spring portion of their schedule with a convincing win in the TaylorMade-adidas Intercollegiate at the Cotton Dike Course.

Sanders fired rounds of 73, 68 and 75 over the par-72 course and his 216 total, even par for 54 holes, was three strokes ahead of teammate Jakub Bares and six shots in front of Julien Sale, who were 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Sanders' 68 over the second 18 holes was the best round of the tournament and the only score under 71.

IHCC, ranked No. 1 in the nation in the Bushnell Golfweek NJCAA Division I Coaches Poll, ran out to a seven-stroke lead over co-runnerup Carnegie-Mellon after the first round and continued to pull away over the final 36 holes, eventually piling up a 42-shot advantage over Carnegie-Mellon and Hampden-Sydney. The Warriors had the best 18-hole score in all three rounds.

Indian Hills traveled with nine golfers and all nine finished in the top 23, with eight scores in the top 14 places.

After the three guys at the front of the individual race, Jackson Bugdalski tied for 6th and had one even-par round. Eric Gilpin opened the tourney with a one-under 71 and tied for 11th with teammate Jace Mueller. Jack Duguid and Ekkarat Leksuwan were next in a tie for 14th.

The next action for Indian Hills will be the William Woods Spring Invitational in Fulton, Missouri, Mar. 27-28.
