IHCC softball falls to Florida SW in NJCAA opener

ST GEORGE, Ut. - Indian Hills ran into a tough day at the plate and fell to Florida SouthWestern State 10-2 in five innings.

The Warriors got on the board first, after Sierra Walton was walked in the third inning, Lexi Smith sent one deep over the fence in left field and IHCC was up 2-0.

But that was the only hit the Buccaneers pitcher Courtney Gettins allowed all night.

On the other side, Taylor Collins hit a 3-run home run in the bottom of the third and the bottom of the fifth during five run innings for the Florida SW.

Both Olivia Goodale and Abby Straight pitched in the game.

IHCC will have to regroup as they play No. 6 seed Northeastern Oklahoma A&M at 4pm central time. The Warriors have to win to stay in the tournament.
