Junior Jacob lamp earned his second Great Lakes Valley Conference Special Teams Player of the Week as he averaged 39.3 yards on seven punts with a long of 48 in Saturday's 28-21 victory over McKendree (Ill.) University. Just two punts of the seven punts were returned, matching the opponents season total for the entire year with one gaining four yards on the return while the other having the returner driven back by the coverage team for an eight yard loss.
The final punt of the day came with just under a minute to play and the Bulldogs up by seven was a 38-yard punt that was fair caught at the McKendree nine.
Four of the seven were inside the McKendree 20. For the season, Lamp is averaging 40.7 yards per punt with a long of 59 and 16 spotted inside the opponents' 20 yard line.
He is ranked 32nd in Division II with his average and the team as a whole is ranked fourth nationally in net punting with allowing just five returns for a -17 yard total and two turnovers. This is the fifth football player of the week award earned by a Bulldog this season.
