Senior Richie Schumacher and junior Dallas Grier were selected to the 2012 Don Hansen All-Super Region Three team.
Schumacher was a second team defensive selection while Grier was a third team offensive pick. Schumacher (Crystal Lake, Ill., Crystal Lake South HS) was a first team all-conference mention and was fourth in the league in total tackles.
He also had six tackles for loss, two interceptions and blocked two kicks during his senior season.
Schumacher wrapped up his Bulldog career tied for third all-time in tackles with 354 stops in 44 games played. Schumacher was the Bulldogs?? first, first-team selection since Michael Elliott garnered the honor following the 2010 season.Schumacher had five games during 2012 with over 10 tackles per game with a season-high of 20 stops against Pittsburg State.
The 20 tackles were the most by a Bulldog in a single-game in 11 years.Grier (Frisco, Texas, Justin Wakeland HS) became a three-time all-MIAA receiver with his second team selection.
He led the conference in receptions per game at 7.4, was fifth in receiving yards per game at 93.3, third in yards per punt return at 11.4 and was 10th in all-purpose yards per game at 115.3.
Grier became just the second receiver in Truman history to have over 1,000 yards (1,026) receiving and will enter his senior season fourth in career catches with 161 and third in yards with 2,173.
He had 81 catches this season with four touchdown receptions. Grier had four games of over 10 receptions in 2012 with a season and career high of 178 yards on 11 catches in a victory over Nebraska-Kearney. The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010.
Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen??s National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988. Don Hansen??s Football Gazette began selecting Division II All-Region squads in 2003. The first-team and second-team All-Region selections advance to a national ballot from which the 2012 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America team will be named later this month. A total of 103 players earned some form of Don Hansen All-Super Region Three honors.
Players from 38 of the 46 football-playing schools in Super Region Three earned All-Region accolades.
