Truman State baseball splits with Southwest Baptist

Blake Marino collected four hits and Jordan Howe added a pair of doubles in a doubleheader split with Southwest Baptist (Mo.) University on Wednesday afternoon at home.

The Bulldogs took the opener behind Logan Siegler 2-1 but fell in the second game 9-4. Truman will host Emporia (Kan.) State University this weekend for a three-game series.

Marino went four for six on the day while Howe was three of six with his two doubles.

The Bulldogs hit just .233 as a team but were successful in five of eight stolen base attempts.

The Bearcats got two quality starts from Zach Winchester and Justin Pasichnyk and five SBU players had three hits apiece in the double dip.

Zach Pirrello was one of the Bearcats that had three hits and also drove in three runs.
