The Truman State University football team was picked third in the Great Lakes Valley Conference preseason football coaches' poll, announced as part of the league's 2013 Kickoff Media Day event.
Defending champion, the University of Indianapolis, was the unanimous choice to repeat while Missouri S&T, last season's runner-up, was picked second.
The Greyhounds garnered 49 points - and all seven eligible first-place votes â?? to repeat.
They won all eight league games in 2012 and finished with a 10-3 overall mark en route to a second-round appearance in the NCAA Division II playoffs.
The Miners' only blemish on the season came at the hands of Indianapolis, 54-35, in late September. S&T got one first-place vote and 43 overall tallies for a unanimous second place showing.
The Bulldogs, entering their first season in the league, grabbed 37 votes to sit third in the poll.
Truman has finished the last three years with 4-7 marks and return senior quarterback Conrad Schottel and receiver Dallas Grier.
The tandem connected for over 1,000 receiving yards last season, which was the second-most posted by a Bulldog wideout.
Saint Joseph's (Ind.) was fourth at 28 votes followed by McKendree (Ill.) with 25, Quincy (Ill.) at 18, William Jewell (Mo.) with 17 and Kentucky Wesleyan with seven votes.
Truman opens up fall camp on August 15th with their first of four non-conference games beginning on Saturday, September 7 at home against Southwest Baptist (Mo.).
The Bulldogs will open GLVC action at Quincy on October 5th. They will host Missouri S&T on October 26 and finish the season at Indianapolis on November 16th.
