Truman State football ready for Homecoming

The Truman Bulldogs will welcome the McKendree (Ill.) University Bearcats for Homecoming on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Stokes Stadium in Kirksville.
The Bulldogs are 2-0 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play while the Bearcats enter with a 1-1 league mark.
For the second straight week, Truman (4-2; 2-0 GLVC) used a second quarter barrage to put away an opponent when they scored 21 points and headed into the locker room leading 35-0 en route to a 45-7 victory over William Jewell on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs blocked two punts, Chico Orlando caught a pair of touchdown passes and the Bulldog defense registered two sacks and 10 tackles for loss in holding the Cardinals to just 120 yards of total offense.
Truman is second in the GLVC in scoring offense at 39.0 points per game and has outscored their GLVC opponents in the last two games by a margin of 78 to 7.
The Bulldogs have outgained opponents 807 yards to 274 yards during the past two weeks.
Garrett White leads the Bulldogs in rushing at 533 yards on 93 carries for 5.7 yards per attempt average.He has five rushing touchdowns and has caught 10 passes for 109 yards and a score.
Conrad Schottel has completed 60% of his passing attempts for 951 yards and nine touchdowns.
Schottel's has several receivers to choose upon including Dallas Grier, Jared Haferbier, Chico Orlando and Brett Nagel.
Grier has 27 catches for 300 yards while Haferbier has 21 for 173. Orlando has snared four touchdown passes on 15 receptions.
Austin Zoda leads the team in tackles with 48 with Matthew Bell at 43 and an interception. Nic Abbate has recorded 9.5 tackles for loss and Truman as a squad has registered 47 tackles for loss for a total of 199 yards.
The Bearcats (2-3; 1-1 GLVC) took their shot against the defending GLVC champions last Saturday and fell 45-7 at home to the University of Indianapolis.
The Greyhounds jumped on McKendree for 21 points in the first quarter including a 71-yard pass play from Connor Barthel to Klay Fiechter.
McKendree managed 284 yards of total offense with 108 coming through the air while allowing 453 yards by the Greyhounds with 247 passing and 206 rushing.
Running back Ryan Herring had 10 carries for 34 yards and Isaac Fisher completed 16-of-28 pass attempts for 110 yards and a score.
McKendree is first in the GLVC in punt returns at 27.5 and tops in redzone defense at 65.2%.
Truman has scored on 13 straight redzone possessions entering the game.
The Bearcats have struggled defensively allowing 499 yards per game and they are last in the GLVC in pass defense at 328.2 per game.
Ryan Herring leads the team in rushing with 304 yards on 56 carries and a 5.4 yards per rush average while Isaac Fisher has taken the majority of snaps at quarterback with 930 yards and six touchdown passes and a completion percentage of 65.5%.
Fisher's top target is Dewayne Gatti with 32 catches for 387 yards and three touchdowns.
The Bearcats have two kick returns for touchdowns with Ryan Keen going 100 yards and Cameron James adding a 97-yard return while Branden Walker has a 68-yard punt return for a touchdown.
Defensively, Alec Gerdes leads the team with 44 total tackles with Javar Murphy second with 30. The team has seven fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
