Truman State players ready for NCAA D2 game with Drury
The Truman Women's Basketball team was seeded eighth and will play host Drury (Mo.) in the first round of the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional on Friday at 6:00 p.m. in Springfield.
The Bulldogs (20-8) won the Deaconess Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament on Sunday 58-45 over Maryville (Mo.) to capture the league's automatic berth into the field of 64 teams.
The Panthers (24-3) won the GLVC West Division this past season and were knocked out of the GLVC tournament by Maryville in the quarterfinals 56-55.
The two teams met on February 1 in Kirksville with Drury prevailing 93-86.
The Bulldogs have been in the tournament twice before in 1982 and again in 1999. They lost to Chapman (Calif.) 49-46 and 17 years later returned as the number six seed to advance to the regional finals before bowing out against host Emporia (Kan.) State 110-93.
Tickets will be available at the O'Reilly Family Events Center on gameday.
Prices are $10 for reserved seats, $8.00 for adult general admission and $4.00 for student general admission.
