Truman State's Garrett White named first-team Academic All-District

Sophomore running back Garrett White has been named first-team Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

White will move on to the national ballot for Capital One Academic All-America consideration.

White (Kansas City, Mo., Liberty HS) leads the Bulldogs in rushing with 551 yards through 10 games on 108 attempts.

He has also caught 16 passes for 179 yards and has scored a team-leading 10 touchdowns.

He had a season-high 97 yards rushing against Emporia (Kan.) on Oct. 20 and has also been the teamâ??s â??big playâ?? player with seven plays this season going for 30 yards or more including two 50-yard plus rushes.

White is an Exercise Science major with a 3.44 grade-point average.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.00 scale, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her institution, and be nominated by his/her sports information office.
