Both Truman State soccer teams will be home Friday and Sunday

Fresh off a weekend road trip that ran its unbeaten streak to a dozen matches, the 20th-ranked Truman women's soccer team returns to Kirksville for Homecoming weekend this Friday and Sunday for a pair of noon kickoffs against Bellarmine and McKendree.

The Bulldogs (9-1-3, 8-0-2 GLVC) carry a four-match shutout streak and a first place spot atop the GLVC standings into the second-to-last weekend of regular season action.

Last weekend, Truman picked up a 2-0 win at Missouri S&T on Friday night, getting goals from Lauren Seawright and Megan Whitehead, before settling for a scoreless draw at Drury on Sunday afternoon, despite out-shooting the host Panthers 16-9.

Senior keeper Emily Bozdeck maintained her stifling action in goal by picking up her 23rd and 24th career shutouts â?? moving her past Jayne Grisham (2008-11) into fourth on the program's career shutouts chart.

She also lowered her season goals-against average to a paltry 0.29 and raised her save percentage to 92.0%.

On the season, the Bulldogs have a +15 goal differential, getting 19 goals off the feet and heads of 11 different players.

Senior Trisha Shoemaker leads the team in goals (4) and points (11), while sophomore Alexis Heffernan is one back in goals while leading the team in assists with four.

Truman has out-shot its opponents 217-137, including a 99-50 edge in shots on goal.

Leading the Bulldogs on the sideline is head coach Mike Cannon, who is in his 21st season at the helm of the Truman program.

He has a 274-97-41 all-time record at Truman and is the seventh-winningest active coach in NCAA-II history. Cannon has guided the Bulldogs to nine NCAA postseason appearances.
