Former Indian Hills All-Region baseball player Brock Kjeldgaard currently in the Milwaukee Brewersâ?? organization, will return to Centerville as the guest speaker for the annual IHCC baseball banquet on Thursday, Feb. 27.
The banquet will be held at the Manhattan Restaurant.
Kjeldgaard has spent eight years in professional baseball since being drafted by the Brewers in the 2005 MLB First Year Player Draft.
Last year, with Milwaukeeâ??s Double-A affiliate in Huntsville, Ala., Kjeldgaard launched 24 home runs and was a participant in the Southern Leagueâ??s Home Run Derby.
The baseball banquet will include dinner, a silent auction, the introduction of the 2014 Falcons baseball squad and remarks by Kjeldgaard.
A social will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7:00.
Tickets for the event are $25 each and can be purchased in advance by contacting a member of the Falcons coaching staff.
Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the banquet.
Kjeldgaard was a first baseman and pitcher for the Falcons in 2004 and â??05.
He began his pro career as a pitcher, but, after three seasons, was moved to first base where he has been one of the Brewersâ?? top minor-league power hitters.
The native of Canada has been named to three minor-league all-star teams and has garnered three Southern League Player of the Week honors.
While hitting 24 HRs last summer, Kjeldgaard surpassed the 100-homer mark for his career. He will enter this season with 111 round-trippers.
The ex-Falcon has hit 20 or more homers four times and was sixth in the Southern League with 70 RBIs last year, the fourth season in which he has driven in at least 70 runs.
