Four Truman softball players earned their second all-region honors of the week late Thursday, as junior Andrea Klipsch, senior Danielle Lewellen, junior Cate Simon, and sophomore Kindra Henze each picked up National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA) accolades.
Klipsch was named the Midwest region's top second baseman, while Lewellen, Simon, and Henze each landed on the NFCA Midwest region second-team.
Another Daktronics first-teamer to earn NFCA honors was Henze (Palmyra, Mo.; Palmyra), the GLVC co-Pitcher of the Year. The sophomore finished the 2014 season with a 23-7 overall record and a 1.21 ERA in 35 appearances.
Lewellen (Kirksville, Mo.; Kirksville) stole a GLVC-high 43 bases batting primarily out of the leadoff spot to earn second-team all-region accolades with NFCA after earning the same through Daktronics. She hit .337 on the season with five doubles and scored 41 runs. Her 71 career stolen bases places her fourth on the all-time Truman chart.
Like Lewellen, Simon (O'Fallon, Mo.; Fort Zumwalt South) logged her second, second-team nod after batting a team-best .389 - good for second amongst all GLVC hitters. Her 12 home runs paced the Bulldog offense, while the junior also added 10 doubles and 32 walks.
