Fifth-ranked Central Oklahoma handed the Truman Wrestling team a 34-3 loss in a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association dual on Friday night. Helmut Rentschler picked up the lone Bulldog win at 197 pounds.
The Bronchos led 12-0 before a pair of key regional bouts. UCO's Jordan Basks got a first period takedown then a late score following an escape to secure a 6-0 win over Truman's Ryan Maus at 149.
Basks is the top ranked wrestler in the weight class while Maus spent time earlier this season atop the rankings.
Cory Dauphin squared off against Colton Schmitz in the next match and again the top ranked wrestler in Division II got Schmitz down and squeezed out a three-point near-fall for a 5-0 lead.
Schmitz would score points on a reversal but would drop the match 7-2.
Ryan Ward lost a narrow 3-2 decision at 184 after getting taken down with 25 seconds left in the match that was tied at one apiece.
Truman's lone win came at 197 when Rentschler got a takedown on Garrett Henshaw 45 seconds into the match and held on for a 3-0 win.
The Bulldogs tough road through the MIAA continues at home next Friday when they welcome the defending NCAA Division II Champions to Pershing Arena for a 7:30 p.m. dual.
The University of Nebraska-Kearney is currently ranked fourth in the nation and have won the last two national titles.
