Kendle Schieber, who was an All-Region 11 performer for the Indian Hills Community College softball team each of the last two years, has added All-Midwest Region and All-American honors to her list of awards.
Chelsea Griffiths, an Ottumwa High School grad, also received All-Midwest Region recognition, gaining a spot on the third team.
Schieber, from Conception Junction, Mo., was voted to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Midwest Region first team and was named a second team NFCA All-American.
She was chosen as a utility player on the All-American team, fitting for someone who contributed to the Warriorsâ?? success as a pitcher and hitter over the last two years.
The righthander was the teamâ??s top pitcher, recording 25 wins for her career and striking out 327 in 323 innings pitched.
Her career strikeout total ranks second all-time at IHCC, behind only Tara (McClure) Isabel.
Schieber played shortstop when she wasnâ??t pitching and compiled a .373 batting average with 15 home runs and 82 RBIs over two seasons.
â??Kendle earned the All-Region and All-American honors through her hard work, dedication and commitment to Indian Hills softball,â?? said coach Jim Overturf.
â??It was an honor to have coached Kendle these past two years.
I canâ??t think of any other athlete that was more deserving to be recognized for her leadership skills on the softball field.â??
In a vote by her teammates, Schieber was named the team MVP each of the last two years.
She is the first softball All-American for IHCC since Ali Downing in 2009.
