The Rams defense is comming up big

The core of a St. Louis Rams defense that stood out in a surprising rout over the Colts last week was in place when Jeff Fisher and Les Snead arrived two years ago.

Though the previous regime was a huge failure from a won-loss standpoint, they drafted pass rush stalwarts Robert Quinn and Chris Long, plus perennial leading tackler James Laurinaitis.

Quinn had two sacks, the first stripping Andrew Luck and producing Long's fumble return for the game's first touchdown. Laurinaitis was typically steady at middle linebacker and had an interception.

The Rams (4-6) totaled four interceptions with three against Luck, matching his season total the previous eight games.

St. Louis has talent but has been wildly inconsistent heading into the bye week.
