The Rams get ready for the Dolphins

Sometime before Saturday afternoon, about 700 NFL players are going to be searching for work.

Michael Sam has one last chance to ensure he's not among them.

When the St. Louis Rams and the Miami Dolphins meet on Thursday night in their preseason finale, it's a virtual certainty that most of the first-stringers from both sides will not play, a customary event for teams hoping to avoid an injury problem so close to the regular season.

And that means players like Sam - the Rams' defensive end who looks squarely on the roster bubble - should get plenty of plays, or in other words, plenty of opportunities to make one last impression on coaches before teams finalize 53-man rosters.
