Courtney Cisler led the Truman women's golf team to a fifth place finish at its first tournament of the year â?? the 2014 William Woods Spring Invitational.
The Bulldogs finished the two-day event with a stroke total of 725. Cisler shot 82 on day one and followed up with an 83 on day two to finish with a career-low tournament score of 165.
Cisler placed ninth in a 45-player field for her top finish of the year at Tanglewood Golf Course. The Bulldogs welcomed back Riley Keltner after a semester abroad, as the junior cut nine strokes off her score from day one (94) to day two (85).
Kim Barmettler went 98-88 for a two day 186 and 25th-place finish, while Olumayomide Coker tied for 30th-place and went 98-97 to narrowly edge Claire Munie's 98-98 and 32nd-place finish. Tournament host WWU won the event with a combined score of 621 and four of the team's players placing in the top five.
Avery Rochester from Columbia Collage took first in the tournament with 151. The Bulldogs travel to the Maryville (Mo.) University Invitational this coming Sunday and Monday at The Quarry in Maryland Heights, Mo.
