For the second straight week, the Truman softball team sat third in the NCAA Midwest regional ranking, as announced by the Div. II softball national committee on Wednesday afternoon. The top eight teams qualify for the NCAA Midwest regional, which will begin on May 9 at two campus sites.
Seeds one, four, five, and eight will compete at one site in a double-elimination format, while seeds two, three, six, and seven will do the same at a second site.
Each sub-regional winner will advance to the Midwest super-regional the following weekend for a best-of-three showdown, with the advancing team moving on to the NCAA Div. II College World Series â?? held in Salem, Va., from May 22-26. The NCAA will release its final weekly polls next Wednesday (April 30), with the selection show set to take place on Monday, May 5, following conference tournament action the weekend of May 2-4.
The Bulldogs have two home doubleheaders this upcoming weekend to close out the regular season, as the nationally-ranked No. 22 Truman squad hosts No. 4 UMSL at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 25.
The purple and white then welcome Maryville for a 12 p.m. twinbill on Saturday, April 26, for Senior Day. The schedule was altered earlier in the day on Wednesday due to projected inclement weather on Sunday.
