Truman State track sets four Personal bests at the Kansas Relays
Four personal bests were set at day one of the 90th Kansas Relays on Thursday for the Truman Track & Field teams.
Three came on the women's side with Laura Tarantino and Michaela Hylen reaching the podium in their respective events.
Tarantino was second in the Women's 5000 Meter Run with a PR time of 17:39.13.
Tarantino led for three laps in the race before being overtaken by champion Cynthia Torres of Missouri Southern. Tarantino held off a late charge from Pittsburg State's Piper Misse for the silver medal.
In the 3000 Meter Steeplechase, Michaela Hylen trimmed a few hundredths of a second off her season best time in the event.
Hylen ran 11:11.62 to claim third place.
Elle Renault bettered her mark in the Javelin. Renault had a launch of 124-11 to finish 11th overall.
Other women's finishers on Thursday were a 10th place finish by Cassidy Smestad in the Shot Put (43-0.25) and an 11th place by Karina Critten in the Hammer (159-3).
Mitch Henderson took four-hundredths off his PR time in the 800 Meter run and finished 22nd overall with a time of 1:57.25.
Sam Stewart was 21st in the Men's Hammer with a mark of 160-1.
More Bulldogs will be in action on Friday.
