Truman State Volleyball Scrimmage is Wednesday August 27th

The Truman volleyball team will give the community a glimpse of what's to come this fall on Wednesday, August 27, when the Bulldogs host a local Kid's Clinic in conjunction with the program's annual Purple/White scrimmage in Pershing Arena.

The 2014 squad - under the direction of head coach Ben Briney and assistant coach Megan Wargo-Kearney - will kick off the event at 5:30 p.m. with a free clinic for all youth in grades K-8.

The clinic will last for 45 minutes, before the Bulldogs take the court for a 6:30 p.m. scrimmage. Briney and Wargo-Kearney will hand over the clipboards for the night, however, as head men's basketball coach Matt Woodley and head women's basketball coach Amy Eagan will serve as honorary coaches for the night - trying their hands at guiding another indoor sport.

The Bulldogs return six starters from last season's NCAA tournament squad that finished the year with a 23-12 overall record and a second-place finish in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Truman opens the 2014 season on Sept. 5-6 in Canyon, Texas, at the West Texas A&M Lady Buff Invite before returning to Kirksville for its home opener on Sept. 10 against Illinois Springfield.
