Truman volleyball ranked 16th in final poll
The Truman volleyball team finished the 2012 season ranked 16th in the American Volleyball Coachesâ?? Association top-25 poll, marking the highest finish for the program in four seasons dating back to 2008.
The Bulldogs dropped three spots from No. 13 to No. 16 in the final month of the season after reaching the NCAA tournament first round and finishing with a 27-7 overall record.
Truman fell 3-0 to now-sixth ranked Southwest Minnesota State in its Central region tournament opener.
Truman has now been ranked in 12 final AVCA polls, tying for 12th all-time amongst all Division II programs. In addition, the Bulldogs have spent 162 weeks in the top-25 all-time (all since 2000), passing Northern Michigan to reach No. 17 on the Division II chart.
The MIAA put four teams in the final top-25 poll, including No. 3 Nebraska-Kearney, No. 7 Washburn and No. 8 Central Missouri.
The Bulldogs would have been the second-highest ranked Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) program behind 12th-ranked and national semifinalist Indianapolis.
Truman will return five starters for the 2013 season when the program moves to the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and Midwest region.
The 2013 schedule will be released early next year.
