Zach Johnson leads the British Open

Muirfield played fast during the first round of the British Open and the scores showed it.

Several players are tied at minus-3, including Tom Lehman (LAY'-muhn), Dustin Johnson and Brandt Snedeker.

At 2-under there are Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods and 19-year old Jordan Spieth (speeth).

In other scores of note, defending champion Ernie Els shot a 74, Bubba Watson opened with a 70, Tom Watson and Fred Couples shot 75's, and Nick Faldo and Rory McIlroy finished with 79's.
