Celebrating 40 years of Ottumwa softball and Coach Frank Huston

This coming Friday and Saturday (June 21 and 22) its"Celebrating 40 Years of Ottumwa Softball" with an alumni reunion,

Coach Frank Huston started our softball program in 1974.

Coming into the 2013 season, Coachâ??s record at Ottumwa includes 1,497 victories and 348 losses for a winning percentage of .811 including two state championships (1976, 1995), 26 state tournament appearances, 14 final four appearances, 49 tournament victories, 95 players selected All State,

75 players with college scholarships including 12 Division I players.

Hustons overall career record of 1,638 victories and 411 losses makes him the most winning active coach in the nation!

Personal honors for Coach include being named the 1990 National Softball Coach of the Year, having the softball facility behind Wildwood School renamed Huston Field .

in1994, being elected to the Iowa Softball Hall of Fame in 1994, being named the State and Regional Coach of the Year in 2010 by NFHS and this year, at the 2013 state tournament,

Coach will be presented the Prestigious Iowa Girls High School Athletic Unionâ??s Distinguished Coaching Award!

All alumni have been invited to attend this reunion to celebrate Coach Huston and Ottumwa Softball.

The reunion consists of a number of events including:

1. Friday, June 21st - the current Ottumwa varsity team will take on Pleasant Valley (currently ranked 2nd in 5A) and Waukee (currently ranked 6th in 5A) in a three team round robin tournament. Pleasant Valley takes on Waukee at 4:00, Ottumwa vs. Waukee at 5:30, and Ottumwa vs. Pleasant Valley at 7:00.

2. Alumni Social on Friday night at Courtside Bar and Grill following the varsity games.

3. Saturday, June 22 - Alumni games will be held beginning at 10:00 a.m.

This will consist of Opening Ceremonies, Dedication of Flagpole, introduction of all present alumni and three alumni games.

4. Dinner and "Roast of Coach Huston" at Hotel Ottumwa beginning at 6:00 p.m.
