KV Girls Track wins Mexico Inv., Baseball beats S. Boone
The Kirksville Tigers went up against some tough competition at the Mexico Invitational Saturday.
Molly Richmond got the tigers going with a top finish in her heat of the 110 sprint.
To the long jump for Christy Tucker going for 13â??8â??.
On the boys side Blake Reilly had a solid day winning his heat in the 110 and taking 3rd in his heat of the 200.
The boys 4 X 8 also took third overall, in a close battle coming up a bit short to Moberly.
The story of the day was the Kirksville girls winning 4 X 8 with their best time of 10:05. It was their first time beating Hannibal in the race in over 4 years. The girls were team champs and the boys took third.
â??Surprised! I can't believe we got a 10:05, our last time was a 10:21 and we thought that was a break through, but getting 10:05 is definitely surprising,â?? said senior Carli Mays.
Sticking with Kirksville, but to the baseball field as they hosted Southern Boone. In the bottom of the 4th Tigers were up 4-1, Eaglesâ?? Casey Slattery gets a runner in scoring position at 3rd, and Ethan O'Keefe knocks him in with a hard grounder to left... 4-2 tigers.
Gunner Western knocks a hot one to right bringing in Asa Sparks.--
After falling to Blair Oaks 6-2 earlier in the day, the tigers rallied back to beat Southern Boone 5-3.â??It was a good bounce back win. We didn't play very well against Blair Oaks and the guys came out and pitched it well, played some really good defense today and finally got some timely hits when we needed it,â?? said coach Andy Jackson.
â??We definitely had a lot more energy. Usually when we come out flat, results don't go our way, but you know we came out real well this last game and we're on our winning streak i guess again,â?? added 3rd baseman Asa Sparks.
