Maharishi boys tennis stops Iowa City 9-0

Maharishi School's boys' tennis team shut out Iowa City High's squad today by a score of 9-0.

"From top to bottom, it was the team's best performance of the season," said Pioneer coach, Steve Briggs.

Today's Pioneer Player of the Match honors went to Girindra Selleck who defeated last year's #1 player, Holden Feigler, 6-3,6-2. Selleck also teamed with Dave Fleshman to defeat Feigler and Drew Jaspers in a tightly contested match, 9-8 (10-8 tiebreaker).

"Girindra has improved so much from last year. I'm excited for him," said Briggs. "He's playing heads up, aggressive tennis in singles as well as doubles."

The Pioneers also got strong performances from Sam Stickels, Solaris Nite, Surya Sawhney, Chandre Morales, and Dave Fleshman.

Next up for the Pioneers is Monday's match with cross town rival, FHS.
